Owen's new couch

This is Owen's new couch. Taylor has one and Owen loves it, so Scott got him one. We had it in the den, but temporarily moved it into Ashlyn and Haley's room so he could sit on it while he watched their t.v.

It also lays out into a bed!

It is just the right size for two people about Owen's size, but of course Ashlyn, Haley and Owen all got on it at once as soon as we got in it the house. Owen got mad and made them get off and hasn't let them back on it since.

Owen is enjoying sitting on the couch and jamming to the Barbie CD player, which, unfortunately, continues to play music loudly even though we "lost" all the cds.

I guess it's pretty comfortable!

Making the call

Owen is always trying to use this phone. Probably calling back-up...or maybe social services...

In flight movie

We went to Tucson today to shop at Old Navy. Ashlyn wanted/needed some jeans. She ended up getting 4 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of cords and 1 pair of khakis. Haley, Owen and I each got something too. Scott declined. On the way up there and back the kids watched movies on the dvd player. They use the headphones so we don't have to listen to it through the radio. There is no talking, arguing, crying, whining, question asking...just silence. Only if you listen really hard you can hear angels somewhere singing Hallelujah!

This is how impressed Owen was with The Wizard of Oz.

He woke up about 20 miles from home and decided to join in the movie watching, however he still just doesn't quite grasp the concept of the headphones.

Before the madness (see fun stuff to do)

Owen playing Hide-and-Seek.

Cleaning up a little.

Making a phone call from the zoo.

Fun stuff to do

In the mornings the hours seem to drag by, so Haley and I look for fun stuff to do to pass the time. Ashlyn and Haley have a toy box in their room full of stuffed animals. Owen is terrified of every one of them.
Haley has found that if you chase Owen with the stuffed animals he runs away and screams like a girl. This sounds mean, and maybe it is, but it is also funny. And if the stuffed animals make any noise it upps the terror factor.

Even though it may look like it, Owen is NOT smiling in this picture while being attacked by a giant Tweety bird.

Owen is getting to be pretty fast, and that's good, because Haley isn't too slow herself!

Big Bird vibrates and laughs a scary, scary laugh. He is a good one to use. FYI-this also works if Owen is bothering you and you want him to leave you alone.

Owen likes Dora the Explorer, but not Swiper.

Here Owen is trying to climb in my lap to get away from Big Bird.

Owen has summoned all his courage and has reached out and hit Tweety.

The Trashman and Bug

Owen gets excited whenever he gets his diaper changed because (1) obvious reasons (2) he gets to throw the diaper in the trash, which is extremely fun for him. He carries it all by himself, all the while saying "Shoo, shoo, shoo" over and over.

He has made it all the way to the trash can without losing sight of the ultimate goal. Sometimes he gets sidetracked and/or drops the diaper, but you cannot finish for him. If he sees you with the diaper he will scream and try to slap it out of your hand.

Now he has actually dropped the diaper into the trash can. There have been times in the past where he has changed his mind at the last minute and decided to hang on to the diaper instead of tossing it. Once again, you cannot step in, you can only try to persuade him to drop it. Strong willed--shocking!

Maybe he is having second thoughts about letting go, or maybe he is just eyeing the level of the trash already in the can. If it is high enough for him to reach, he will try to get stuff back out. Thankfully, it is too low for him to get to anything.

Here he is just wondering why I am still taking pictures after the show is over.

Here is a close-up picture of Bug. She wanted her picture made. The first one was blurry, so there are two.

More of Ashlyn's cast

All the kids in Ashlyn's class have signed her cast. They seem genuinely worried about her arm. We went Monday for a few minutes so Tuesday when she started back all day it wouldn't be such a big disruption. She has done well, and hasn't needed any of her pain medicine. She told me she was lucky she broke her left arm, since she's right handed, but before I could answer she said "Well, I guess if I was really lucky I wouldn't have broken any arm...but look how colorful!" Hmmm, she's almost on my page.

Haley 3, Ashlyn 1

I am slowly accepting the fact that this kind of thing is just going to be a part of our lives. ERs, long waits, x-rays, screaming/crying kids... Apparently Ashlyn felt like she needed to start catching up to Haley so she fell off the monkey bars at school on Friday. After spending the night in the hospital (including and iv and being put to sleep to set the bone) we got home about noon today. Some new Polly Pockets, a movie and a pack of multi-colored sharpie pens were her feel better present. April, Brandon and Taylor came over tonight and we all signed her cast. I worry that in the last six months I've about had 3 nervous breakdowns in ERs and Owen hasn't even gotten started yet...

Owen in his hat

Owen got this hat for Christmas from Papaw. His head has finally grown into it and he wears it all the time, especially when he sees Scott with a hat on. He will point to Scott's hat and then run and get his. After a couple of minutes he forgets he has it on and will wear it all day. He also wears it in the stroller on our walks in the mornings to take Ashlyn to school.

Mamas don't let your babies grow up...

Haley finally earned 100 stars on her chore chart. Her prize was cowboy boots. For those of you not keeping up, Haley wants to be a singer/cowboy (who ice skates on the weekends) when she grows up. Anyway, she got the boots, wore them home, and Owen promptly put them on. His new thing is to try to wear everyone else's shoes around the house. BTW-Haley wears her boots EVERY day, rain or shine, so anyone who decides to send clothes must send stuff that is cowboy boot appropriate.

Scott and Owen hanging out on the bed.

Owen making a fast getaway from Ashlyn and Haley's room where he goes to wreak havoc and then run out leaving them both screaming and/or crying.

Owen on his way back to Ashlyn and Haley's room because apparently he didn't get enough the first time.

Go Dawgs!

Pops recently sent this shirt to Owen. Pops is a Georgia fan and he is trying to make Owen a Georgia fan. Pops has also agreed to pay for any and all college as long as they go to UGA. So...all 3 of our kids are going to be Bulldogs!

Go go gadget arm

Owen sees that one of his baseballs has rolled under the television.

Owen assesses the situation.

From another angle, Owen reassesses the situation and formulates a plan.

The biggest problem with this plan is that his head is too large to fit under the edge of the table, thus preventing him from reaching all the way to the ball. Fortunately for him, he has about five more baseballs so he just went and got another one.

Owen in our bed

Owen tries to act all cute at night hoping that we won't make him go to bed. As soon as Scott took off his clothes he started jumping around laughing and playing with the pillows.
Here he has propped up the pillow and is leaning back against it.

Next he got under the covers and actually laid all the way down. This didn't last long because he really was tired and staying in this position for a while would have put him to sleep.

So...he sat up and noticed (for the first time I think) his bellybutton. He thought it was the funniest thing ever.

This is just a continuation of the bellybutton exploration.
